season 1 is NOT over yet- it continues in the uas jan 21st and most likely will finish in May 2010- normally tv shows take 2-3 Months After it finishes airing for the dvds to be release- I would say summer or fall of 2010

You can't buy the first season of The Vampire Diaries yet because only half of the season has aired. The other half will start again on January 21st in the United States.

At ths time of year everywhere has sales on, so it's probably the best time to get it cheap..

It isn't out yet - the season hasn't finished. Even though it isn't on anymore, that isn't the whole series, episode 11 comes out sometime in January.
