Is House MD realistic?
Well I started watching house md a couple of weeks ago, and I've always wanted to be a barrister, but watching house its just amazing, Im not saying that I would like to be like house, but someone like Cameron an immunologist. However my question is this, is the show realistic, the medical terms? I know its not realistic on the part that the illnesses are very very rare, and its not possible for people with all those illnesses to come to one hospital, but is the atmosphere in the show the same in real life? i.e they all gather round explore different ideas, or is it like in every hospital, boring and dull. Also is there something like house does, for example bending the rules a bit?

House MD is realistic in that it does show the overall business of a hospital -- particularly the tedious clinical work that has to be done.

Diagnostics teams will on occasion gather together to support and disprove different ideas, but it's not exactly as it's done in House, usually.

And no -- you'd NEVER get away with doing some of the things he does. You'd never be allowed to send a member of the diagnostics team into someone's home to look for contaminants -- that's someone else's job. Doctors can't self-treat (i.e; self-medicate as House does with his Vicodin) either.

Hospitals aren't really as nice as that either, usually. Though I wish they were.

I should think in real life Mr House wouldn't even have a job...
