Was Magnum PI a spinoff of Hawaii Five-O?

I am watching reruns of the old Hawaii Five-O, and I read that not only did Magnum PI take place in Hawaii too, but that the Hawaii Five-O unit was mentioned in Magnum PI periodically throughout the series, and Magnum even mention Steve Mg garret by name in the pilot.

Actually, I'm not sure if it qualifies as a spin off but Tom Selleck played a detective called Lance something or other on Rockford Files years before, who always beat Jim Rockford to closing the case....perhaps Magnum PI was some sort of reaction to his fan base in that role years before.

No. References were made, but they shared no common characters or plots. Definitely doesn't fit the definition of spin-off.
