I do! I was just a tiny tot,( I think I was 4-5 years old) when it came on in the afternoons. But my babysitter used to watch it, so I did too, even though I had no clue what it was all about.

I do know that was where my facination with Vampires started... Barnabas Collins, made an impression on me!

As for how it ended... I don't think they ever did wrap up the storyline. I think it was cancelled without any consideration to it's devotees.

I was a senior in high school when I got hooked on it. I remember Quentin and Daphne possessing Amy Jennings and David Collins. Great storyline! It was based on the book, "Turn of the Screw". Come to think of it, a lot of the storylines were based on classic gothic novels. It was unique yet campy but I loved ghost stories and mysteries so it was up my alley so to speak! There hasn't been an unique soap since. Loved it!

As for the ending, I think the last storyline was a take on Withering Heights.... everyone played an entirely different character. The storyline didn't fare well with the fans. They wanted to watch Jonathan Frid play Barnabas, not the character he played in the last storyline. Can't remember the name of the character at the moment. I wanted to see what happened between Barnabas and Dr. Hoffman when they returned to the present from 1897. The storyline wasn't wrapped up like it should have been, imo....

Wish TVLand would run the show from start to finish like Sci Fi channel did. They play other old TV shows.....why not DS?

DS was on ABC from 1966 to 1971. Then it was sold to syndication.

Thanks. Rose. Bramwell was the character Frid played. I was wondering about the DS movie with Johnny Depp and if it would see fruition.

Last Episode: 2 April 1971 - "In a parallel universe Bramwell Collins returns home to find that his true love, Catherine Harridge, has married his wealthy cousin, Morgan Collins. The Collins family is under a curse that requires them to hold a lottery, the loser to spend the night in a room that will leave them either dead or insane."

Poof. That was it. They never resolved the Jennings family issues but they tied everything else up by having a kind of 'storyteller' voiceover read out the ending of the series in a storybook kind of way.

But guess what???

On a happy note!:

Johnny Depp revealed in late 2007 that his production company secured the film rights to Dark Shadows. In June 2008, Warner Brothers announced that Tim Burton would produce/direct the film under Depp's production company. The screenplay is to be written by John August, who wrote for Burton's films Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Tim Burton's doing the Dark Shadows movie!!! He's completely ideal for this production, and Johnny Depp... I can't wait.
