Question:
grimm vs supernatural?
2013-08-14 15:50:24 UTC
since grimm is going is going to start its third season in September/October I thought it was time I asked which people think is a better show. I would have to say grimm. the concept is fresher/more original. I loved supernatural from seasons 3-5 but the show has gone downhill ever since. im tired of the whole "post apocalypse" situation and wish the writers would bring something new to the table. the writers clearly weren't expecting to get renewed after season 5. imo, the show is also pretty cliché. monsters are monsters, they must die! I thought what dean did to Amy{sams love interest} was extremely hypocritical. what gives sam and dean the right to act as vigilantes but not amy? what's worse is that she killed convicted criminals to save her own son! dean would have done the exact same thing for god sake! the show is also very sexist. there are no strong female counterparts to sam and dean. the only female character to live in eight seasons happens to be a lesbian! the show is so sexist it has become a running joke on tumblr. the show is also dictated by crazed fangirls who just so happen to hate any strong female characters the show does produce{Ellen and jo's death anyone?} if castiel had been a woman, he wouldn't have made it past season 4 cos the fangirls would have hated him{does the name "Anna" ring a bell for anyone?} the show is becoming more and more of a joke ever since the start of season 6. now, lets talk about grimm. I've watched grimm since day one and was expecting it to be a cheap knock off of supernatural. by the end of season 1, I had come to realize that grimm couldn't be more different. first of all, the concept is more original. I love the idea of a dark fairytale every week! although the original grimm tales were quite dark, they have been watered down by Disney which has given them a bad name. but back to the point. grimm, imo is more "21st century". just because someone happens to be a wesen doesn't automatically make them evil{Monroe and Rosalie are both good examples of this} unlike supernatural where every ghost, demon, shapeshifter and even witches who are technically human, are always somehow evil and need need need to be to killed no matter what! could you be more 1950's? another thing about grimm is the presence of strong female characters who aren't prepared to take any crap from their male counterparts{Juliette, rosalee} whereas any decent women on supernatural are either killed off as a result of teen fangirls or just so happen to be lesbian. seriously? sorry about the rant, just needed to vent a little. do you agree or disagree with my statements? please explain why. detail is appreciated.

I'd like to be fair and say that you have some valid points...but you don't. Supernatural is an amazing show that is now ending its ninth season whereas Grimm will be cancelled in the next year or so. The actors in Grimm can't act worth a damn, I'm not saying the actors in Supernatural are the best actors in the world, but I have seen better acting from an 8th grade drama class. And your weird and stupid sexist argument makes almost no sense. Throughout the show supernatural has had various reoccurring women. And the whole thing about Amy is also stupid and meaningless. Dean wouldn't have done the same thing EVER! If you think that he's just as bad as the monsters he fight, the only difference being that he's human, you should really get off you're lazy *** and actually start watching supernatural before you "call it a day." That is the dumbest, most fucked up comment here. You are obviously a hard core Grimm fan, because you use absolutely no logic in your argument. The funny thing is that I like both shows equally, that being said, it is easy to see that Supernatural is better.

I totally disagree with you. I believe Supernatural is far better than Grimm and always will be. Grimm is basically a rip off of Supernatural with worse special effects and sub-par acting. I much prefer the premise of Supernatural and I find Grimm very boring. I admit that some episodes of Supernatural are not too great, but I cannot think of a single whole episode of Grimm that I thoroughly enjoyed. Grimm is the show full of cliches. And as for the "sexist" and "1950s" approach, that is so not true. Just because there are currently no female main characters that doesn't mean that the creators and writers are sexist or something. The show is about the two brothers against the world. You always have to eventually go back to the story. I think you are over generalizing with the whole "only lesbian" and "teen fan girl" stuff. Not all watchers of the show are one/both of those types. Jo, Mary, and Ellen were all strong female characters and they died because they were hunters! Hunting is dangerous! Sam and Dean have died too! Ruby and Meg were some of the best villains! I much prefer Supernatural's idea of hunting down the evil than the boring "dark" fairy tales. I'm sorry, but I just think that Grimm's ideas are pretty laughable and uninteresting. Supernatural is much more engrossing and fun. That's my opinion.

I tried to watch "Grimm" but just couldn't get into it. To be fair though I did not really give it much of a chance, just didn't think it would contain the certain factors that makes the show "Supernatural" so special and magical for me. :)

Definitely Supernatural, story is just amazing IMO. And the lore is based off real legends and stuff which makes it much more interesting.

Honestly, I'm kind of preferring Grimm to Supernatural at the moment. I loved Supernatural during it's first few seasons, but it's lost it's appeal as it's gone on. The actors are great, and let's be honest, they're pretty damn hot, but Supernatural's story line has gotten more than a little dull. I've recently gotten into Grimm, and although the two TV shows may seem similar at first, they're definitely different when it comes to their plot line. Like Supernatural, the show is somewhat morbid, but at the same time, humorous. I love the way that they've set up the plot in both shows, but in Supernatural, it feels like they've tried over-stretching what used to be a fantastic story. I'll always love Supernatural, and I'm not sure if Grimm is actually "better" than Supernatural, but for now, I'm going to side with Grimm.

better watch a movie, than read a book.Of course,it is much easier to get a much better picture by watching the action(images),then browsing through all these words.
