What is the show Degrassi about and is it good?

Seems like everytime I flip by the N channel it's showing something about a Degrassi show. I watched an episode of it and so far what I've got is just a lot of drama and teen angst.

Is this show actually realistic or well scripted? Or is it just a bunch of teen pregnancies, violence, drugs all added together? Also, is it comedy or purely serious?

I'm just looking for a good show...hopefully this is not some kind of junk plot that is dramatic for the sake of being dramatic

Degrassi is about a group of Canadian high school and college students. It was my fav show when I was in high school about 3 years ago.



1. Its kind of over dramatic so it makes it a little cheesy and unrealistic.

2. Yes it is.

3. Its serious and funny.



I dont think its as good as it used to be.

The Degrassi series is a Canadian drama that follows the lives of a group of teenagers who lived on or near De Grassi Street in Toronto, Ontario.

It's a really good show and sometimes some of the drama is way out there but most of the time it's not. Mostly the show is suppose to deal with issuse that real teens would face. A plus about the show is the fact the actors don't look like models.

Degrassi: The Next Generation is a Canadian teen drama television series, set in the Degrassi fictional universe created by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood in 1980. Degrassi: The Next Generation is the fourth fictional series in the Degrassi franchise, following The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High, and Degrassi High. Like its predecessors, Degrassi: The Next Generation follows a group of students attending Degrassi Community School who face challenges common to teen life, such as self image, peer pressure, child abuse, sexual identity, self-injury, school shootings, teenage pregnancy and drug abuse.





At times, the show can be slightly unrealistic, but it's mostly well scripted. It is a comedy, but there are serious times. I personally love the show.

Degrassi was originally a short show in Canada that discussed all teen subjects (violence, pregnancy, sex, abuse, drugs, etc.)



It has had four different series.

Degrassi: Kids Of The Street

Degrassi Junior High

Degrassi High School

and Degrassi: The Next Generation (the current one).



Degrassi Jr. High & Degrassi High School was centered around everybody, but held one vital character. Christine "Spike" Nelson.



Then, the new spinoff that started in 2001. Of course, Spike's daughter, Emma Nelson, was next to be the "vital character".



But now that the 8th season has started, they have a whole new set of characters (with a few of their old characters). I haven't really tuned in to season eight, but I plan on watching it.

Many teens are able to relate to the issues it presents such as drug use, rape, teen pregnancy, death, etc. In the earlier seasons, it was very realistic and the actors chosen portrayed their characters very well. Now, in season 9, the show has gotten much worse, but I still watch it. They really need to come to a conclusion soon, though. I really despise when something goes on for so long it ends up becoming ridiculous.

Teens attend Degrassi High in Ontario, Canada and face obstacles and struggles, and happy moments and highlights of being a teenager.



I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone....its one of my favourite shows :)

ooooooooo i love degrassi lol i watch it all the time :D its your basic canadian teenagers who do all sorts of stuff, its funny! definitley watch it , so worth it
