My boyfriend and I watched the first 12 episodes of Lost series 1 and for some reason stopped tuning in. Now seeing the trailers for the latest series on Sky, and noticing that there are lots of characters and weirdness, can someone please give me the gist of what has happened in like a few short paragraphs please?

Oh, and was there a polar bear on the island and why hasn't the fat guy lost any weight?

Cheers!

6 of the survivors (jack, kate, sayid, hurley, aaron, and sun) eventually get rescued.

when they do, it's about 108 days after they first crashed.

so from season 1 to season 4 they've only been on the island for about 3 months.

in season 2 they find a hatch made by a team of scientists (the DHARMA Initiative).

inside the hatch is severl months supply of food.

then MORE food is dropped off from an undisclosed location on the island.

so there is always food on the island which is why Hurely doesn't appear to lose much weight.

also, YouTube the video LOST in 815 (8 minutes 15 seconds).

it'll give you a quick rundown on season 1-3.

then you can go to abc.com under season 5 of LOST and watch a recap episode titled Destiny Calls.

then you can start watching season 5 if you want.

you won't understand EVERYTHING that's going on (you'd have to watch every episode).

but season 5 is super good!

you and your bf should watch.

It's really a style of a show more than just an action packed or status quo form of a televisions series. You're really just a fan of JJ Abrams produced entertainment or you're not.

JJ Abrams and his writers basically crashed an airplane on a mysterious island just to get all viewers attention. The show has evolved into what they made it rather quickly in the course of the 1st season. The style of JJ Abrams as I'm sure you can tell, is one of making a very thought provoking show that really goes into the depths of arts and science. For the most part the show has always given a few answers and many many more questions. And fans of the show are just really into that. Lately the show has given more answers to match the number of questions coming up, so the show is yet still evolving.

Yes the show is very weird but it's got a lot of draw if you're willing to pay full attention. No amount of explaining can really do it justice. You just have to watch every episode yourself to get the full story. To me it's entertaining enough to make you watch every show. If you can't get past the weirdness of it from season 1, it's going to be hard to continue through to the end.

If you have individual questions to certain topics, any fans on YA! could easily answer a question for you. For instance your questions, short answers to your questions are: the polar bears are on the island for one of two reasons which can't be determined for sure until it's verified on the show, one, the island moves in time and space. the polar bears could be on the island if the island had moved near polar icecaps at some point in time, you wouldn't think they could survive, but the island has very special properties. the other explanation would be that scientists brought the bears to the island because there is a history of weird science on the island. and Two, Hurley is still overweight because food was supplied by helicopter drops from an undetermined source, as well as Others on the island having food and water supply.

I don't blame ya they really need to draw it to a close now. Some aspects of the seasons are not really that relevant and can be ignored to an extent because they don't play a big part in what's happening now in Season 5.

Basically, we are reminded that Jack, Sayid, Hurley, Kate along with a few others left the island successfully but NOT ALL got off and they have had to keep that fact secret from everyone.

Anyway, they have now realised they have to 'go back' along with Ben Linus who appears to know of the island's secrets. WHY they have to go back is unclear at this time but it's seems as though 'they were not meant to leave' and therefore have unfinished business. (Excuse the cliché)

Meanwhile, Sawyer, Juliet and other characters are left on the island travelling through time constantly. This is because, at the end of season 4, Ben utilised the island's mysterious power/energy to 'move' the island through time and his actions have dislodged the island in the time circuits. The island is obviously a supernatural phenomenon.

That's the gist of it and Hurley should have indeed lost weight you're right :)
