is this an older version of Degrassi: the Next Generation?

Degrassi Junior High was basically an older version of Degrassi TNG but with different characters. It was filmed in the 80's and originally aired in Canada. Degrassi High was also a show filmed after Degrassi Junior High in the 80's. A lot of the older characters on Degrassi TNG were featured on Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High when they were younger such as Spike, Joey, Snake and Caitlin...there were also a few older characters from the older series who made guest appearances on the newer version.



I personally find that the older series from the 80's was more popular in Canada back then and the newer TNG series although it is still filmed in Canada, it's more popular throughout the United States as well.

I just finished watching every single episode. It started off in Junior High. Their school burned down in the last season and it turned into Degrassi High and I swear , it was more edgy than the new Degrassi. You really need to watch all of the episodes. They are all on Youtube. If you want to watch them in order, go to Google and type Degrassi Junior High Episode List. I enjoyed them so much . By the way, 3 of the original characters from those shows are now teachers in Degrassi: TNG, Spike, Snake(Mr. Simpson) and Joey(Craigs Stepdad) are all major characters from the original Degrassi. Same exact actors also. Enjoy! I know I did!

Degrassi: the Next Generation is a re-done version of Degrassi Junior HIgh which was the original. (That's why it has "next generation" in the title, like Star Trek)

Yup, my uncle used to watch it, Emma's father Snake, and mom Spike were charters in Junior high
